What is the Funniest Person In Louisville contest?

It’s a competition for standup comics with competition in Amateur and Semi-Pro categories.

Amateurs get 5 minutes on stage and Semi-Pros get 7 minutes and must do new material if they reach the finals.

Amateurs typically are newer comics and Semi-Pros generally have more tested material and have been paid to host or feature at shows.

Who can enter?

Any comics who can be in Louisville on the dates of their shows are eligible to participate. Louisville Laughs works with comics to choose preferred dates for shows as much as possible.

Entry fee is $25 and due by May 1.

How does it work?

In each round, a panel of judges will vote on their favorites, and audience members also receive ballots and vote. The top picks by the judges and audience advance.

Why should I enter?

The FPIL typically has great crowds, often with sold-out shows. Comics have the opportunity to purchase a professional video of their sets and also are free to tape their own sets.

Each comic receives a unique Promo Code for the opening rounds. If audience members buy tickets using your code, you get $5 and the audience members save $5.

All the entry fees go toward prize money in the Amateur and Semi-Pro categories, paying out for the top 3 places in each.

Comics who do well often get booked on shows, even if they don’t advance.
